Typical Conventional Shots in a Music Video (Rap & Hip/Hop)

After studying many music videos I have picked up typical conventions from the genre of R'n'B and Rap, many of the shots form the music video such as  7 Days by Craig David have many mid shot cutting to close ups and extreme close ups which are similar to other music videos I watched such as Burn by Usher which they have many zooming out shots from close up to mid shots and this same technique is also used a lot in Take Care by Drake.

In all of the music videos the speed of the music is always in sync with the shot which would mean that for a fast tempo song the shots and editing would have to be fast jump cuts and if the song was a slow song the transitions between shots would have to be slow.

Which is why by watching different music video within the same genre was helpful to see what kind of shots they use typically in Hip/Hop & Rap genre so that we can apply the same conventions and technique in our music video.

Here are some of the videos i have watched and have studied in depth.
