Diary Entry - The Reunion - Part 1

9th of February - Railway Station

The day had been set out to film the shots we had planned at Florence park like the scene with the child and the father and we also planed to film some more military training at the park but because the forecast said that the weather was going to be nothing but rain we thought that it might be better to film the The reunion scenes instead. when we awoke on the day guess what? It was not raining. At all. We were not going to change our plans though, so we suck with the reunion scene that we decided to film and we made our way on bus to the Railway station. Of course we had expect it to be wet but the weather wasn't that bad. Once we arrived we then waited for our actors to arrive. We decided that we only needed the mother and father and then on other day have just the mother and the daughter. When Jerome and Evelyn arrived we ask 'Would you prefer to film inside the station or outside?' we decided that Evelyn playing the mother was going to wear the military outfit first considering that it was her coming from war and after Jerome would wear the same outfit. Evelyn and I then made our way to the stations bathroom for her to change. once she wore the costume she then felt that she would be more comfortable filming outside the station where there would be less people and because it still had not rained we took our equipment outside . We first tried many aspect of where we could position the tripod in order to get the best shots and once we had found and tried many ways we decided that the best shot of her returning would be as though the camera was following her from behind and so we then stood inside the train station and filmed her walking past and outside. We then decided that we would film from the same angle outside the train station so that had a wide range of shots when it comes to editing.

Once Evelyn's shot seemed to be as good as there were going to get she then took of the costume because she had her clothing underneath and gave them to Jerome who then went to change in the station bathroom.

With his shot we needed to have him walk out of the station and then spot his family and thats what we did, we then had Jerome hugging his ' daughter' who was really Evelyn because the child actress couldn't come so we had to improvise a child that he could hug and we took a close up at a tilt up angle so that the camera only saw his face and the back of Evelyn coat which would mean that that the 'daughter would have to wear that coat on the day when we will be filming the mother and the 'daughter'.
Because Evelyn had come from church she was dressed in casual and in a mature outfit and decided that we would shot her reaction of seeing her child and husband reunited and we also had a slightly tilted upwards shot of Evelyn without asking she was tearing up because the wind was fierce she wiped away a tear and it was a perfect shot and reaction to show the happiness that is seen at the begging of the music video. BUT we had forgotten to bandage up her leg that had been wound at war which was the whole reason she had been sent home in the first place but we knew that we had to film again when the child was there so we have the chance to correct mistakes made.

Next time we film we will be filming at Railway Station again but this time to fix the errors in the story and to film the mother and daughter scenes in the reunion scene and possible depending on how long that take and the time f day we could head up to Florence park to film the rest of the military training that we have in mind.

Diary Entry - Battle scene

28th of January - Shot-over
After already filming parts of the training we have decided that we had to film the rest of the battle scenes. So we headed towards shot over our chosen location at 11:00 o'clock by taking the bus and then walking up a steep hill in order to reach our destination. We had presumed that because of the recent rain that the ground would of have been wet and possibly create mud which was then confirmed when we arrived. Once we had arrived we then were looking for a possibly territory that was had a military sense to it with colour in which the actress could camouflage against the trees and foliage, luckily we chose a area where the a tree had fallen down which was perfect to place all the equipment on top of the tree so that no damage will be done.

Because of the outdoor environment we had the actress put the costume on over her clothes this also kept her warm on this cold day. Last time we had filmed at shot over everyone was cold and so this time we came prepared and in order to keep warm we had prepared tea in two large flask and had brought some snacks we also had taken hand warmers this helped a lot and keep everyone including the actress happy through out the day.

When filming the the death scene we knew that at the same time the father would feel the pain in a different location so we knew that it didn't matter as much of continuity errors and so that is when we thought of the gun dropping in slow motion because it would be so awesome in the rewind montage we have toward the reunion. When shooting a long shot of the actress running through the wooded area she first had to see which path was best suited because of the muddy floor and of the branches that were not as visible from a distance. She then had to practise so that she remembered which route to take when actually filming. We then moved location where we would have the actress getting ready to fight.

We then took advantage of the appeared sun and started to take possible photographs that could be included in our magazine advert or our digipak, different photos that we put in a mood board to so that we can view them all at once.

The aim of the day was to shoot a great range of long and close up shoots and I personally think that we achieved that. We have split the next filming days into 3 sections, all sections that we are filming will need all the characters including the child to participate and have spilt them by location

Park Scene
Which will be at Florence park in where the the father and the daughter are playing at the park, but we have also thought about filming some of the military training because we know that there is a climbing type frame that we thought we could have the actress climb as an obstacle.

Railway Station
Which is where we will shoot the sending off of both "parents" and the reunion of "both parents" with the "daughter"at the train station

Home scenes
This is where any home scenes that are needed when it will be shot such as the scene of the daughter is washing her face or getting ready for bed or playing with her toys we will also film the scene where the father feels the pain the mother does when she is shot.

These are the only film days we have left it not a lot of shot but the location takes time to travel and because of the weather we might have to choose what we are filming on the day.

Hold on we're going Home - Drake 1 first cut

This is our first draft of the music video that we are creating. It has many parts missing but so far we are still in the process of filming and editing the parts we have. We have spent time re-arranging where the specific shots should go and we think that so far the music video is getting there and that we only need to film the child and father and the reunion parts in order to finish. The parts that are black is what we still need to film and the song doesn't end yet completely. The beginning of the song is at the right tempo and beat to the song and we also have a small introduction at the beginning of the music video.
