What We Will Need

To replicate this music video.....

Setting: For the counselling room we will be using either the gym or the common room at school they both have the white walls and brown wood floors. For the back scenes we are going to use the drama room which will be pitch black with just a light behind the artist. For the flashback we have not decided yet but we will nee a white smaller room.

Costumes: for the main shot in the counsellor room will we need:
Angel: white shirt with a jumper a hat jeans
            Yellow shirt with leather coat
Misha B: a rolled up hoodie with beads on the hood, body warmer and a skirt
               pattern jumper with body warmer
The rest of the costume doesn't have to be exact but we will  try to get it right

Props: Blue chairs, McDonalds cup, 'DOPE' beanie hat, glasses, smoke effect, leather gloves

Fortunately the production of the music video was filmed so we got an idea of what the shots we need to be.

Angel- Ride or Die

Why we chose Ride or Die?
We decided in the end to chose Ride or die but we won't have the talking part of the song because of the time limit, the music video has easy shots but at the same time has the lip syncing that we wanted to learn more about and test how to do it. Ride or Die is basically a video where a number of people are in a rehabilitation meeting and everyone is talking about there problem then Angel who in this case is the artist who sings first and the second artist who sings is Misha B towards the end of the video.

What is the song about?
The actual lyrics to the song is about addiction these are the lyrics of the song:

yeah yeaah yeah yeaah yeaah
what the hell is happening ?
all she did was give it to me once
and now I'm back up in Dagenham
like i had to hit the back again
turned edgy on the cab man trying to beat the traffic in
i can see whats happening
she got me hooked like a brother on the pipe cracks back again
I'm all upon in the flats no oxygen

Chorus
i think i better go back to my ride or die
she's waiting at home
i think i better go back to my ride or die
she's waiting at home

I'm feeling so wack again
no i couldn't resist
i had to give it one last tap again
return of the mac again
one missed call and i'm asking where and when
trapped in
it's the pleasure principles so i'm guessing that i have to bend
and my lady friend she's a ten

Chorus
but i'm still seeing that i need to go back to my ride or die,
shes waiting at home, thinking that i need to go back to my ride
g-g-go back to my ride, my ride, she's waiting at home

Misha B
routine, another sweet nightmare
eyes full of mist cos I dont wanna be here(no)
how do i, where do i go?
why o why cant i not say no?
lost in it for a moment
noone has spoken
eye to eye we lie coz we both no we can never be coz she's your ride or die
she's waiting at home
go back to your ride or die
she's waiting at home

(ANGEL) girl i think i better go back to my ride or die
(she's your ride she's right by your side)
she's waiting at home
i think i better go to my baby, she's waiting at home...

How we are planing to replicate it?
We would need a big almost white room similar to the counsellor room in the video and costume such as hat and hoodies similar to the ones that Angel, Misha B and the rest of the people that are shown a lot in the music video, We would also want to get prop almost the same including chairs, smoke, cups etc.

Video Considerations

As practise we chose to replicate a music video. When choosing the music video there were a lot of consideration take for example the scene props, costumes etc.

Blurred Lines was our first video we though of because of its simple background and props but we choose not to replicate the video purely because of the amount of actor we would need and the costumes the female actors would have to wear were very skimpy clothing or no clothing at some points. We also thought that we were more capable of producing a music video more complex.

The Man Who Cant Be Moved was our second thought because we wanted to do a complex music video and this one would of have been fine because we had no problem filming outside and in a parking lot but the only problem with this video would be towards the ends where all the public start looking at the main actor which wouldn't be so hard because they would look at us anyway but it would be hard to film them especially the police woman in the police car. We also thought that the scenario was a bit hard because Oxford does not have many big old fashion buildings like the ones in the video.

The A Team was also an option but we then thought that it would be best if we chose a music video where a actor is also singing so that we can practise lip syncing with the actual song and because this just like the story of the song we thought we look for more options.

Drop It Like It's Hot was one we looked into with great detail we were looking and already thinking about the costumes and setting and props we would need. We thought it would be easy because it a simple video with the white background and just them dancing and singing, but in the end we chose not to replicate the music video because toward the end it does get more complicated because of the scenario and the props so we thought that even though it was quite simple we would keep looking at other music videos.

Ride or Die was the last video we looked at and we thought it was a good song and a very good not too complex music video to replicate so we decide to look into detail with the video and look at the setting, costumes and props to see if we would be able to do the video and we thought that out of all the video this one was what we were looking for because it was has complicated shots we would have to lip sync the music to the video but it doesn't have to much going on in the background making it easier for us to get it the right background every time we go to do it.

We have chosen to replicate Ride or Die by Angel because we like the challenge and we think it will help us learn lip syncing and gets us used to all the different kinds of shot again.
